All About The Best Phytase Enzymes

A phytase is any type of phosphatase enzyme that hydrolyzes phytic acid (myoinositol-hexakisphosphate-phosphohydrolase). This is an indigestible, organic form of phosphorous that can be found in plants and animals. However, phytases are most often detected in fungi.

The majority of the the best phytase stimulant are part of a class called histidine acid phosphatase (HAPs). HAPs were isolated from plants, bacteria, yeast, and filamentous fungi. Each member of this class of phytases shares a common active-site sequence motif. They also share a two-step mechanism to hydrolyze phytic acids (as well as another phosphodiester).

The phytase obtained from the fungus Aspergillus Niger is a HAP. It is well-known for its high specificity and commercially marketed role as an animal feed supplement to increase the bioavailability of phosphate from wheat-based diets.

Uses & Effectiveness

  • Anemia is a low level of healthy red blood cells. Early research has shown that phytase can be taken with iron-rich meals to increase iron absorption.

  • Zinc deficiency. Early research has shown that phytase can be taken with zinc-rich meals to increase zinc absorption.

  • Aging skin.

  • Tics and twitching of the eyelids

  • Growth of children

The right dose of phytase will depend on many factors, including the user's health and age. There isn't enough scientific data at this point to determine the appropriate dose of phytase. Natural products may not be safe, so it is important to know the right dosages. Before using, make sure you follow all directions and consult your doctor or pharmacist.
